Jailor Inveraray Jail Scotland May 2017
The magnificent Jailor at Inveraray Jail, Inveraray, Scotland.
After almost two weeks in the UK, staying and holidaying with my UK hosts Ian and Julie, for the first time I was on my own. We had spent a week in a cottage at Isle of Skye, and this morning Ian and Julie dropped me off at Glasgow Airport and they continued the long drive home to Kent. I rented a car for two weeks (which I ended up extending to three weeks a couple of weeks later.) I turned around and headed back north again to the Scottish Highlands. I can not deny I was a little apprehensive, so I took my time to settle in, stopped off in Dumbarton to buy supplies from Morrisons (a suburb of Glasgow) then drove north, along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Being a nostalgic and sentimental type (I think it comes with age) just driving past Loch Lomond was quite surreal and very special.
After an hour I arrived at Inveraray so decided to stop off and have a look around. It turned out to be a lovely wee village, I enjoyed it very much. For some reason I thought someone had told me how they enjoyed the tourist attraction of Inveraray Jail, so I decided to take a look which ended up taking almost three enjoyable hours, just taking my time, not rushing etc.
The Jailor was superb, I asked if I could take his photo and he instantly hit a perfect pose - I kind of think he has done this before, but nevertheless he was excellent. In the real world he told me he used to be in the Army and then a real life Prison Guard, so no wonder he was perfect playing his part of the Inveraray Jailor.
