I "met" Ian on Flickr quite some years ago, possibly around 2008 and we commented on each others photos.
Fast forward to 2016 and Ian told me he and Julie had booked a cottage on the Isle of Skye, Scotland in May 2017 and that I should come over from New Zealand and join them.
Ian knew that I had scanned a box of slides my Grandmother took in 1966, which included photos from Skye and knew I had wanted to visit myself one day to take similar photos some 50 years or more later.
I'd been procrastinating about this for seven or eight years but when Ian made the offer I couldn't resist any longer and within a week I had booked my flights. For those that know how I take my time over these things, that was lightening fast for me! I surprised even myself!
In this photo we are about to get a small ferry from Skye back to the Scottish Mainland - the very same crossing my Grandmother took back in 1966. We could have easily taken the bridge across to the Kyle of Lochalsh, but not today.
Thank you Ian and Julie, it was a holiday of a lifetime.
