I had seen Dungeness on television a couple of times, most recently via a new build on Grand Designs and had seen photos by Ian or "Jeltex" on Flickr from this area, so when I mentioned to him I'd be keen to see Dungeness we jumped in the car and drove there.
Here is the "Dungeness" section of my diary, that I kept each day of my UK trip:
Tuesday 16 May 2017.
Drove to Dungeness with Ian via Hythe. Had a quick coke and cake stop at the cafe near "The Old Lighthouse" barely five hundred metres from the Dungeness Nuclear Power Station, which to a New Zealander is quite surreal indeed.
Walked around the Dungeness shingle beach, the largest shingle beach in Europe. Quite hard walking on the beach as your feet sink into the stones with each step. Took photos of the derelict and current fishing boats, which are dragged up on to the beach each day."
