World Record Holder for the Great Lake Cycle Challenge (around Lake Taupo) on a Penny Farthing.
I met Andy at Pauatahanui at 10:15am and we realised that we used to race together in the early and mid 1980s in Auckland for the Southern Districts Cycling Club. We also realised that we were both doing the famed (in Wellington circles) Akatarawa Loop Ride (depending on where you start, it's a 100km loop give a take a kilometre or two either way*), both in opposite directions, so we decided we'd meet up a few hours later and catch up a second time, and four and a half hours later we did.
I knew when I bought my Thorn Nomad bicycle back in December 2013 I'd start making these random meetings and so far I've made several, it is happening a lot more often and more quickly that I thought it would and it's great.
Thanks for the meet up (twice!) and chat today Andy.
