I rode over to Featherston and back today via Rimutaka Hill - for those that don't know it, it's quite a trek, in fact my highest ever daily metres of evelation gained for one ride: 1247m.
As I was leaving Featherston to hit the climb on the return journey I realised I hadn't filled up my water bottles. I stopped at the first house with people sitting out the front and asked if I could use their garden hose to fill my bottles and Damien obliged.
Damien wanted me to add that he is the Featherston Tattoo artist, so if you're in the market for one, tell him I sent you.
Not a long ride, but a lot of metres gained: sportypal.com/Workouts/Details/4120911
I worked out that (approx) of the 4hr 58mins I rode, two hours were of solid climbing. And not to forget the road up past the Twin Lakes is not to be sneezed at either.
